5 Things To Do On a Rainy Day

Let’s get splashing

There is one thing we can count on, and that is, we can expect our fair share of rainy days. Ee’ve compiled a small, yet useful, list of things to occupy your children on a rainy day.

Bake/Cook Something

Whilst being a whole lot of fun, this can also double up as a valuable life skill. Whether you are cooking up a delicious dinner or a sumptuous sponge cake, this can occupy you and your little ones for hours on end. It is a fantastic way to bring everyone together, delegating a task to each person gives everyone a part to play. And what better reward for your hard work? FOOD!

Build a Den/Pillow Fort

If you didn’t do this at least once in your childhood, you’ve definitely been missing out. Gather some dining room chairs to act as the walls, then hang bedsheets over the top to become the roof, collect some pillows and what have you got? Your very own little kingdom. What to do in your new kingdom? Well that leads us nicely onto number three.

Read a Book

You’ll struggle to find a better past time than reading a good book, find the right one and you can get lost in its story for hours on end. Best yet, it’s great for relaxing the mind and it holds educational values that other activities may not. Is there a better way to spend a rainy afternoon than with your favourite book?

Board Games

Much like the cooking activity, this next one can involve the whole family having fun together. Dust off the old Monopoly box and you can play for the majority of afternoon. If Monopoly isn’t your cup of tea, then games like Connect Four or Jenga are great fun, whilst also stimulating the brain.

Movie Day

This one is perfect if you aren’t feeling super creative. Relaxing on the sofa with lots of snacks, snuggled up in a cosy blanket, watching you favourite film, will make the rainy day drift away.

Well, there you have it, five, free, easy and fun things to do on a rainy day. They may not be ground breaking, but they’ll definitely occupy an afternoon or two!
