Attention Defecit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and hyperactivity disorder aren’t just kids having too much energy – they’re neurochemical and neurophysiological issues. Studies of the brains of children with ADHD exhibit on average thinner brain tissue in areas of the brain associated with concentration. Individuals with ADHD may also have an impaired neurotransmitter system, which means that areas of the brain associated with decision-making and self-control are less able to function.
